Alexander, from Tyler Texas, was a member of the Photographic Society of America and the label to that effect indicates the print was "abrasion toned." The written title as part of the photograph is reminiscent of some of William Mortensen's photographs.

This image is exemplary for the NS propaganda photography used during WWII and shows a cross channel gun which was able to shoot across the English Channel. At the time the print offered here was made, Agfa-Color paper was still at the start of its development and not yet widely available on the market.
