Photograph of a side of the Kimberley Mine being repaired after a landslip. Workmen are repairing damage to the side of the pit to the far left. There is a row of machinery along the edge of the pit which is supporting long cables which extend downwards. The Kimberley Mine was a major diamond excavation site in Griqualand-West, a British colony in southern Africa. A large town was established nearby to accommodate the mass immigration of workers.
