Photograph of three young Zulu women. The woman in the middle of the group is standing facing the camera with her arms crossed. There is a woman kneeling beside her to the left and another sitting to the right holding a container. Their breasts are exposed and they are wearing rough skirts and jewellery. There is a painted backdrop of a lake behind them. This photograph was taken during the Anglo-Zulu War (1879), which ended the independence of the Zulu Kingdom and brought it under British control.
