Herbert G. Ponting 1911, May Captain Oates and Siberian ponies in the stable at winterquarters hut [British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1913 (led by Scott on the "Terra Nova")]
L'Atelier d'Artistes Captain Oates was the cavalry officer in charge of the horses for the Antarctic expedition and he was critical of the quality of the horses purchased. He died with Scott on the return from the South Pole.
