Photograph capturing Queen Victoria firing the first shot at the inaugural meeting of the National Rifle Association, held on Wimbledon Common. A large crowd stand in the foreground and watch the proceedings of a smaller gathering by a single tent at the top of which flies a flag. In the far distance stand more people and tents. Photographer's credit lithographed on the mount and numbered on the mount in pencil, 'No.9'.
