Photograph of a street in Karabelnaia, a suburb of Sevastopol. Buildings line the right side of the street, all badly damaged. Outside one building there is a pile of wicker fencing and a chair. After an eleven month siege the city of Sevastopol was captured by the allied British, French and Turkish forces on 8th September 1855. Lefevre photographed a number of scenes of the city shortly after it had been abandoned by the Russians.
