This CDV was made in Brady's studio, and is one of the scarcest of the CDV's of Custer. His seated pose contains a lot of latent energy and even reveals a kind of swagger. The CDV with Brady's imprint is very rare; the one illustrated in Katz's "Custer in Photographs" [K-78] is from a drab dog-eared example. This one, in fine condition, is published by Styles Vermont Gallery of Art. It does not appear to be a 2nd generation copy.
