Photograph of a half length portrait of Christian Soren Marcus Olrik, Inspector of North Greenland, seated and facing three-quarters right. He wears Danish Naval uniform and holds a bicorn hat in his left hand. His left hand is tucked inside his jacket. He also wears tassled epaulettes at the shoulders.
This portrait was possibly made in Liveley (or Godhavn as it is now known) on board the HMS Phoenix when Olrik was a guest of Captain Inglefield on 3rd July 1854. Olrik again visited the Phoenix in September as a guest of Inglefield when the ship took on fresh supplies on the return journey to England.
