Spences Bridge is the name of a settlement in British Columbia and is situated amongst a mountain range known as the Clear Range in British Columbia. The Thompson River was named after the explorer, David Thompson (1770-1857). Born in London, Thompson was also a fur trader and map maker. He left England for Canada in 1784 after entering an apprenticeship with the Hudson bay Company. He died at Longueuil, Canada.
