Photograph of the interior of an exhibition pavilion during the 1872 Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition. At the far end of the room there is a large painting of the Good Samaritan with three marble busts placed in front of it and a Russian coat of arms and four flags hanging above. To either side of the pavilion there are display cabinets and plants. The walls and ceiling of the pavilion are made of fabric. The 1872 Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition was one of the largest trade shows held in Russia in the 19th century. It was timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Peter I and showcased advances in areas such as technology, warfare, science and culture.
