How Much A Dog Knows. A gentleman by the name of Ransom Read, who resides in Lowell, has a large black dog by the name of Caesar, who was accustomed to visit a daguerreotype saloon with Mr. Read's daughter. One day, on her visit there, she tried to make her dog have his daguerroetype taken, but she could not succeed. In about a week, on the first day of April, the keeper of the saloon heard a tap on the door; on opening it he found Caesar there, he comes in and places himself before the glass, and the keeper seeing what he is about, sets his glass, and takes his daguerreotype. When finished, he did it up and tied it around Caesar's neck; the dog then proceeded to his master's place of business. His master, who thought some one was trying to play an April fool upon him, would not touch it, but at last he opened it and found the beautiful daguerreotype of Caesar.
