Fry & Co. (Durban) 1865 (ca) Full length portrait of two young women against a grass hut backdrop, one with arm across the shoulders of the other. [Zulu]
Research Notes
Extract from note in RDF by Sandra Klopper (then History of Art Dept, University of Cape Town) 7 Sept 1995 - "Spring…was an inn keeper in Durban who seems to have died a destitute alcoholic in 1878. His will, which is not at all helpful for anyone interested in the album, is in the Natal Archive Depot in Pietermaritzburg" [CM 21/07/2006]
Although the mount of this photograph is not stamped by Fry & Co. it contains the same young woman as on the extreme left of .46 and so can be assumed as having been taken on the same occasion as that photograph. [CM 02/11/2015]
