Photograph of an indigenous Canadian from the Huu-ay-aht tribe in a half length portrait, facing three-quarters to the right and wearing a blanket around their waist and a necklace at the end of which is a long piece of bone.

The Ohiat name is an anglicised interpretation of a name that refers to the Hu-ay-aht indigenous tribe of people. Other spellings include Ohyat and Ohiet. The Huu ay aht race occupied the west coast of Vancouver Island in the Province of British Columbia.
