Photograph of a full length double portrait of Queen Victoria (1819-1901) and Prince Albert (1819-61). Queen Victoria is seated, facing the viewer. She places her left hand in her lap. She wears a white dress decorated with pink and green flowers and a morning cap trimmed with wide blue ribbons. Prince Albert is seated on the left and faces the camera, his head turned towards his wife. He wears a jacket and tie and a sash worn over his left shoulder, partially obscured by his jacket. He holds a scroll in his right hand.

On 30 June 1854, Queen Victoria states in her journal that both she and Prince Albert were 'very successfully photographed, but it took a long time.' (RA VIC/MAIN/QVJ/1854: 30 June).
