A surrealist self-portrait by avant-garde Japanese-American photographer and artist Harry K. Shigeta. Born in Japan, he emigrated to the United States when he was 16 He was active in Chicago from the 1920s through the 1940s, notably opening the Shigeta-Wright Studio with George Wright in 1930 where they specialized in experimental illustration.
