Cabinet card
Private collection of Professor Omer S. Khan
Description from owner (pers. comm to Alan Griffiths, 30 October 2014):

My late great-great-grandfather Nawab Muhammad Hyat Khan (1833-1901) (seated) , along with my maternal great-grandfather, Nawabzada Sirdar Sir Sikandar Hyat Khan, KBE (1892-1942) who was still then a child. Nawab MHK served with the famous John Nicholson until his death at Delhi, in 1857, and later on as an officer of the Punjab Government, becoming in time a senior sessions judge and then a member of the Punjab Legislative Council. While his youngest son, my great-grandfather, Sir Sikandar, is a very well-known political figure of the Punjab, the first native governor of the province and then the first elected Premier/Prime Minister of the province too, from 1936 to 1942, when he died. The photo is supposed to be circa 1899 or maybe even 1900.
