Curatorial notes: This is thought to be a self portrait by William Howes Hunt (1806 -1879) sitting in an arched doorway with his foot resting on the bottom of some garden steps. Hunt was a linen draper from Leeds who came to work in Great Yarmouth, once retired he pursued artistic interests including painting and photography. The Norfolk Heritage Centre holds 13 photographic prints attributed to him, in albums of early images put together by Thomas Damant Eaton during the 1840s.
