Photograph of two camels used by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, during his 1875-76 tour of India. The camel to the left is kneeling on the ground with an attendant standing just behind. The camel to the right is standing facing left with an attendant sitting on its back. There is a small stone domed building behind, along with several tents and a number of trees.
 
This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour. Camels were used throughout the tour for routine orderly work such as carrying order-books, to save the energy of the troop horses.
 
Presented to Alexandra, Princess of Wales by her husband the Prince of Wales at Christmas 1876
