On the surface, the picture-series Waterscapes is a reflection on nature. But for German artist Ulf Saupe his photographs go beyond mere depiction. They are a visual metaphor capturing a split second of perpetual transformation. Saupe studied experimental photography under renowned artist Floris Michael Neusüss at the University of Art in Kassel. Bringing both a unique perspective on his medium of choice and an unconventional approach to his art, Saupe pushes the boundaries of simple imagery. His super-sized cyanotypes reveal a hidden world between the waves, full of breathtaking depth and variety, while his use of a manual printing technique manages to blur the lines between photography and painting.
