Carte de visite Paul Frecker Major John FitzMaurice served as a Lieutenant in the Peninsular Campaign during the Napoleonic wars, and was present at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, for which he received the Waterloo medal. In May 1861 he attained the rank of Major-General.
