Photograph of the Lahore Gate, also known as the Amar Singh Gate, at Agra Fort. The gate is surrounded by high sandstone walls and is reached by a bridge over a moat. There are several trees and a number of people on the rough land in front of the fort. The Taj Mahal can just be seen in the distance to the right.
This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76. Included in the volume are a number of photographs of notable sites visited by the Prince.
Presented to Alexandra, Princess of Wales by her husband the Prince of Wales at Christmas 1876
