Talbot's three daughters Rosamund, Ela and Matilda appear in a number of photographs from the 1840s. The one offered here resembles a portrait of Ela that is reproduced in Geoffrey Batchen's "William Henry Fox Talbot" (p. 29), in which she charmingly clutches a bouquet of flowers. Rosamund also appears frequently as a subject.
