1857-1858 (uncertain)
Senator Sam Houston

Tintype, 1/6 plate
Cowan's Auctions, Inc
Current whereabouts unknown.

Cowan Auctions description
Housed in a book-style case, with a stippled mat. The right edge of the plate stamped "Griswold's Patent," for Victor Griswold and Company of Lancaster, Ohio. As early as 1856 Griswold was in direct competition with Peter Neff offering his "Ferotype and Paperotype" plates. We believe this image to have been taken sometime in 1857-58 during Houston's tenure as a United States Senator from Texas.
