Serge Levitsky: CDVs of European and Russian royalty and aristocracy
Title Introduction Carousel Lightbox Checklist
The biographical material on Serge Levitsky is sketchy but the "Répertoire des Photographes de France" states that he was a Daguerreotypist in Germany and Italy. In the 1850s he was a photographer in St. Petersburg and during the early 1860s he was in Paris with a studio at 22 Rue de Choiseul and some of the carte de visite in this exhibition are from that period. He later returned to Russia and the exhibition continues with a number of photographs - of particular interest are those of the Russian aristocracy and the Imperial family.
