She titles this photo: "Best Friends Forever." Her favorite part of being a cheerleader is tumbling and performing gymnastics. Sarah calls this picture "Princess and the 'pep'er." The girls are still best friends. |

" In the end I went as a last hurrah of childhood. I remember discovering my mom's old hippie pants from thirty years ago and thinking how cool I was going to be and how amazing they were. I wish I could still fit into them now. But mostly it reminded me of Drew (the boy in the photo) who was my first real boyfriend. Even though we have long since parted ways and lost touch, I still remember all the good times that we shared and all the new things that we discovered together about fist love." |

"It was, and still is, my favorite Halloween costume and I remembered being so proud of myself for thinking of it. Before shuffling over to have our picture taken, Sean and I had been arguing about his bland costume. He was wearing his regular clothes but on our way out to go trick-or-treating, had thrown on a janitor's shirt stolen from his school. I was so angry because that shirt was part of his regular attire anyway and to me, Halloween was the one night when you were supposed to become someone, or something, else." |

"It was a lot of fun pretending to be someone else, and that Halloween I decided to go as a bum. It was always sort of an unspoken contest to see whose costume got the best response from people as we went trick-or-treating door to door, and I definitely lost that year as my costume was no match for Leighton's pimp suit." "Dressing up as a pimp was something new to me," says Leighton, now in his first year at St. Edward's University, and a part-time employee of Washington Mutual bank. "I was headed to my 8th-grade Halloween dance when this picture was taken, and I remember thinking how cool I was in my costume. 'Man, everyone is going to think I look so good in this, I can't wait!' Although I will never actually be a womanizer, it was a good time testing the waters at that young age." |

"I put my own costume together: that was my Cleopatra dress, from a school project, and I added the fairy wings and halo to make it special. I was wondering when the photo session was going to be over, because I wanted to get out and get more candy. Now that I'm older, Halloween is more about giving candy out to the kids, and watching their faces. It's kind of sad; it's more like reality now. They're not monsters running around, they're just humans in costumes. It's funny how fast you lose your imagination." |

"The costume was completely home-made by my mother. The shirt was made of the same fabric that is normally used to make drapes. The badge is just a cutout piece of gold fabric and the circular design on the badge is hand drawn with black fabric paint. The pants are just a pair of black dress paints. The ears are plastic vampire ears that hold on to my own ears with small pieces of chord. The strangest thing that I did for this costume was my eye make-up, I actually shaved off my eyebrows so I could draw on the slanted eyebrows and make them look convincing. (Don't worry: they grew back a week later). "At that time, I made the solid decision that I wanted to be an actor, so every Halloween I tried out and still do try out a different pre-existing character, I study the way they move, talk and act around other people until I can act like that character without making fun of him or her unless it is already a comedic character. I have attended acting classes and majored in theatre arts throughout high school. I have also won two awards at a local community theatre and I have appeared as an extra on a television series. I am now preparing to search for an agent and real acting jobs." |

"My Mom made my costume and I was wearing my Mom's hat. It was big but it had sparkly diamonds on it. When I watched the musical Wicked I got the idea that I wanted to be Elphaba. My face was green!" |
