Benjamin C. Tankersley: Portraits
Title Introduction Carousel Lightbox Checklist
"My aim in photography is to create a still, intense or whimsical depiction of a presented scene. The subject and the setting or background are of equal importance in my portrait work whether the subject is placed in a real or imaginary environment. I am inspired by cinema as well as photography and attempt to carry over the feeling of a hyper-reality into my portraiture by having a staged, controlled element to them even when going for a "captured moment" photograph.

The feelings that a certain scene stir inside of me are the catalyst to make me decide to create the picture. I feel that the resulting image bears a strong imprint of my emotional response."

Benjamin C. Tankersley (March 2007)
