Auction Preview: Be-Hold 51 Part 2 (March 13, 2008)
This is a great selection of photographs on paper, the strongest such collection weve ever offered. While the top lot is "only" $10,000 (a mere trifle in todays market) and most of the lots start well below this, they are all selected (from a much larger body of material we have reviewed) to be of interest to serious collectors. They range from fascinating 19th-century material (for example an important albumen print of Lincolns second inaugural, unique early Belgian salt prints, mammoth plates by Watkins and Hillers) to interesting and sometimes rarely offered 20th century photographs, including a wonderful group of 1970s and 1980s photographs in color, and good prints by many of the great photographers including Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Harry Callahan, Dorothea Lange, Kertesz, Rodchenko and many others, including interesting surprises.
If you can, come to this preview in NYC. This will give you a chance to examine and discuss the material. Its not often that you will be able to have such a close view of such a range of interesting photographs. You are welcome to browse and chat with us about your photographic collecting.
The Preview will be at the Affinia 50 Hotel, 50th Street and 3d Avenue (NYC) on Thursday March 6, 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday March 7, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday March 8, 9:00 a.m. to noon. The hotel phone is 212.751.5710.
