Daguerreotypist, photographer, ceramicist, collector and dealer in ceramics. The first official photographer to the Royal Family of Portugal and a close friend and art advisor to King Fernando II. In 1848 he opened a studio at número 31, da Rua Direita das Necessidades, Lisbon. He took albumen print portraits of the Royal Family during the 1850s and 60s. He also documented the city of Lisbon.
