Born: 1828 (ca) - US Died: 1887, 4 March Gender: Male Active: Canada
In May 1863 he opened The People's Gallery in Halifax (NS, Canada) at 189-191 Barrington Street and he continued to run it until he retired in April 1874. His archive of over 7000 negatives was dispersed and less than 300 survive held largely by Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management (Halifax, NS), the Nova Scotia Museum (Halifax, NS) and the Sherman Hines Museum of Photography (Liverpool, NS).
One of the most significant survivals is the Roger's Photographic Advertising Album (Halifax, N.S., 1871) that illustrates and documents the businesses of Halifax.
