British amateur archaeologist who set himself the task of photographically recording the monuments and vestiges of Ancient Rome as they were being destroyed by nineteenth century urbanization. Better known photographers, such as Carlo Baldassare Simelli (1811-77) and Charles Smeaton (1838-1868), took photographs for Parker.
The Getty Research Institute houses a collection of photographs including works by Carlo Baldassare Simelli, Adriano de Bonis, G.E. Chauffourier and others. The Victoria & Albert Museum in London also has an extensive collection.
