In the late 1930s and the 40s he photographed the shows at the old Roxy Theater in Manhattan, New York where he was the staff photographer. During the Second World War he served in the Army Signal Corps photographic division. He was also involved in early color photography work before it became commonplace using the carbro color printing technique.
