She worked for the BBC's European Service during the Second World War and in 1946 became the Managing Editor of "Radio Week" in the British Government's Public Information Office. In 1950 she joined Magnum in New York when it still in it's infancy. She learnt photo editing from Ernst Haas and Werner Bischof and has written on Chim (David Seymour) and Ernst Haas.
