Lebanese studio photographer who for over 50 years documented the people of Saida [Sidon] in Lebanon. He started taking photographs as an itinerant photographer in Saida in 1948 and founded Studio Shehrazade in 1953. The vast majority were taken within the studio and like the work of Mike Disfarmer the posed portraits are a record how everyday people desired to be seen. Sometimes the poses are formal and in others they are relaxed and display emotions such as kissing and embracing. Around 100,000 of his images are held by the Arab Image Foundation in Beirut.
