Holcroft was a keen collector of photography and actively encouraged other photographers to experiment and persevere. Despite a low opinion of the Society, he was persuaded by Dudley Johnston, in 1928, to donate his collection of 200 prime Pictorial photographs to the RPS, along with 30 photographs, platinum, carbon prints etc. of his own. Pictorialism, landscape, portraits etc.
