Hans Hildenbrand was known to have made many autochromes during the First World War. However, Hildenbrands War autochromes were evidently destroyed in 1944 during the bombing of Stuttgart. Fortunately, almost 700 of his non-War plates were sold to the National Geographic Magazine where they are currently stored.
