Italian-born photojournalist. In 1990 she began a series "Men" that explores closed male societies - the groups include Ukrainian miners, New York boxers, the Foreign Legion, Spanish bullfighters, American fire fighters and Men of the Sea. A more recent series "The Gift" examines different aspects of spirituality. She joined Contact Press Images in 1994, and in 1997 was named Documentary Photographer of the Year by American Photography magazine.
