Missionary who left Samoa in 1875 to found a mission in the Bismarck Archipelago (New Britain, New Ireland, Duke of York islands). When his professional photographer left he purchased the equipment and documented the people of the area between 1875 and 1880. In 1880 he went to work as a minister in Sydney.
