Early French travel photographer who traveled between Cairo and the Second Cataract on the Nile 1851-1852. He is best known for the series of 160 plates of Egypt that were published between 1853 and 1858 as Égypte et Nubie, sites et monuments les plus intéressants pour l'étude de l'art et de l'histoire. A collection of 40 of his paper negatives came up for auction at La Galerie de Chartres (25 May 2013).
