Charles Lalleman partnered with the photographer Ludovico Wolfgang Hart on the subscription publication "Galarie Universelle des Peuples" (1863-1864). Their offices were based in Strasbourg and they had A. Varroquier as their representative in Paris. In some of the publications Ludovico Wolfgang Hart is not mentioned as the photographer and this can lead to some confusion over who took the photographs.
