German photographer who untook expeditions into the Amazon including parts of Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia in the 1890s. He is considered one of the pioneers of photography in the Amazon region. His photographs were published in El Perú Ilustrado (1892).
Charles Kroehle archives are kept in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Ethnologisches Museum (they have around 100 photographs). Some are kept in the Pitt Rivers Museum (Oxford, UK) and one album is in the former Musee de l'Homme (today Musee du Quai Branly) in Paris.
