Noted for his photographs of Native Americans. After the American Civil War he had a photographic studio in Moline, Illinois. He later took photographs for a railroad company in New Mexico and ran studios there with his last studio at Fort Wingate (NM).
There is a certain amount of confusion between some of his prints and those of A. Frank Randall and so attribution at times can be difficult.
