French missionary who carried out aerial photographic surveys of the Middle East. Starting from 1924 onwards he recorded the archaeological traces of the Roman Empire in the Syrian desert. The results were published in " La trace de Rome dans le de´sert de Syrie; le limes de Trajan a` la conque^te arabe; recherches ae´riennes (1925-1932)" (Paris, P. Geuthner, 1934).
