Founded by James Valentine (1815-1879) in Dundee, Scotland it went on from a printer of scenic views to the leading manufacturer of picture poistcards in Scotland. After the death of James Valentine in 1879 the company was run by his sons William Dobson Valentine (1844-1907) and George Valentine (1852-1890).
