See caption slip. "The pyramids of Gizeh. Cheops is farthest from the camera & is the largest. Kephren is centre & next in size & the third & smallest is Mycerinus. During the 'Pyramid' age no less than 70 pyramids in all were erected. They are simply colossal masses of masonry that house the small tomb chambers of the respective Pharaohs who built them. For life to be eternal in the next world, it was imperative that the Pharaoh's mummy be in existence & so these great structures were built to house the mummy-for ever. These three, perhaps with one or two exceptions are the best specimens remaining of that civilization(?) that raised them nearly 6,000 years ago!".
