Cabinet card Private collection of T. Max Hochstetler Josef Kainz as played the role of Don Carlos in the play by Friedrich Schiller at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 1886. The German magazine Gartenlaube (1886) included an etching that may have been based on another photograph taken during the same session.
