SEVEN SONNETS OF SCULPTURE.
BY M. VIRGINIA McCLURG.
"The titles of the seven sonnets presented in this beautiful book are 'The Questioner of the Sphinx,' 'Fatality,' 'White Winged Victory,' 'Venus of Melos to Venus Anadyomene,' ' Helvetiorum Fidei Ac Virtuti.' ' The Soul Quest,' and ' The Prayer of the Caryatid.' The leaves of the book are of heavy cardboard; on one side of each is a sonnet, on the opposite side a photograph of the piece of sculpture which has suggested the poem, an arrangement well thought of and carried out with excellent effect. Mrs. McClurg's sonnets are finely wrought, with here and there something like masterly power of both thought and expression."
