A huge cloud of smoke rises when HMS Queen Mary blows up thirty eight minutes into the battle of Jutland after being struck by a salvo from the German battlecruiser Derfflinger. 1,266 men lost their lives.
 
This photograph was included in the exhibition "All Aboard: Stories of War At Sea", at the Imperial War Museum North, in Manchester, UK (17 July 1010 - 24 April 2011).
