This was almost certainly taken at the nearby fishing village of Newhaven, which provided ample subject matter for Hill & Adamson. Their un-published volume on this series has recently been brilliantly re-created by Stevenson. The negative for this image was in the collection of the Edinburgh Photographic Society and is now in the SNPG. For some unexplained reason, a rectangular section was cut out next to the subject's face, then re-attached. These lines show in the print.
