Lech, born in Poland, now lives in Jersey City. Soon after I got to know him, I discovered that another friend, John Wood, poet, author of several books on daguerreotypes and other photography subjects, one of the editiors of "21. The Journal of Contemporary Photography," had written a beautiful long article on Lech's photographs. It begins "I do not think anyone could look at a photograph by … Lech and not immediately be struck by its ghostly beauty, its brilliant artistry and craftsmanship, and finally its genius." The entire article can be found here: http://www.foreigner.de/gallery/gal_lech_work.html Lech will be exhibiting additional photographs during our auction preview in NYC. Lech makes each print in his studio, using the highest quality paper. Because of his unique process of sepia toning, each print from a negative is a "one of a kind print."
