This was possibly taken at the nearby fishing village of Newhaven, which provided ample subject matter for Hill & Adamson. Their un-published volume on this series has recently been brilliantly re-created by Stevenson. This negative has been waxed and retouched in ink. It is inscribed in pencil "Dark" and "3" and in ink "118C". It is the original of two prints in the SNPG and one in the Edinburgh City Archives.
